Bestial Warlust

Bestial Warlust is a Black/Death metal band from Australia. I discovered this band a few months ago and they are a really good band they broke up in the late 90's but they have made the mark in the Australian extreme metal scene. There first album Vengence War till death reminds me of a more death metal version of Blasphemy. The songs are a sonic assault on your senses. Their next album Blood & Valour is a little more Death metal in my opinon. Also one of their guitarist went on o form Destroyer 666. So look up this band if you don't know about them.

Hail to the hordes

Deathhammer interview

Deathhammer is a Thrash Metal band from Norway. They play really raw thrash I first discovered them by looking for Norwegian Thrash bands and I first heard this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBke99hbnjw) Toxic radiation. I really like this band support the underground and buy their records.

Also this interview is with either Sadomancer or Salsten I don't kow they didn't say who it was.

1. How was the recording process for "Onward To The Pits"?

Dh:  One year of chaotic and unprofessional recordings but we reached our goal in the end.

2. Your logo was on the Darkthrone album F.O.A.D do you think that because of that you now have a bigger fanbase?

Dh: No, because posers who checked us out and liked us "only because we was on a darkthrone cover" isnt people who can listen to us in the long run. Thats whats great with violent music. Can`t recall many wimps pretending they like Vomitor for instance. You simply have to be a maniac. Also I think those with an interest in ancient evil metal have checked us out by now and we dont need a bunch of wannabe-fans anyway.

3.  Your lyrics deal with satan, death ect. Did you make a conscientious decision to do that or did it just turn out like that?

Dh: Nothing is very conscientious, we just write what comes out of us in a possessed moment and what fits the mood of the songs.

4. .Also what's your opinon on vinyl compared to cd's?

Dh: Vinyl are the superior format because it have the best sound. Cds can be practical too but I`m glad to see it dying in favour of Vinyl.

5. Do you think in the future you will ever tour North and South America?

Dh: Don`t think so because Salsten have had some trouble with the law but playing in Europe rules anyway.

Thanks for the interview i'm going to try to get my hands on Phantom knights, keep making evil metal!!

Here's a song from there split with Körgull the Exterminator

Kommandant (Jim Bresnahan) interview

1. How did you guys get the idea to be in gas masks on stage and stuff?
JB: At first, our intention was only to shoot some photos wearing them. The idea to wear them as stagewear came much later, mostly due to people inquiring about us doing so.
We decided the give it a try,and never looked back.To us,the gasmask represents more the removal of ones humanity than any sort of military statement.

2. I think that you guys are creating a more orginal sound compared to our European counterparts what do you think?
JB: I believe the stage presence in conjunction with our music is the more original element here.Neither one has the power on its own.I think this result is achieved mostly due to
the fact that we develop the imagery and stage show in tandem with the creation of the music, not as an afterthought when the album is finished.

3. Do you feel the whole satanic images of the bands from the 80's and 90's has lost it's edge and it's extreme look?
JB: Yes.I think that most people realize this but few will admit to this.I believe a handful of current bands are still very capable of working within this framework, but not very many.Satanisim does not interest me personally, but I can appreciate a good artist who just happens to be satanic.

4. In the future do you think kids will say Kommandant had an influence on them and the whole extreme metal scene.
JB: Absolutely.A band like this does not go away on its own.Kommandant is honest and real, and is always a work in progress. An artist who is not willing to risk will most surely die out.Kommandant was constructed upon risk from day 1.

5. Also how was the recording of your new album?
JB: Our new album,THE DRACONIAN ARCHETYPE, is definately our finest work to date, and is personally my finest achievement in all of my career. Many revisions of the music and the artwork as well. The major revision would definately be the re-recording of all the vocals.A difficult undertaking in and of itself, which is also proof that we will go to any length for the perfection of our art.

Witchburner interview.

Witchburner is a German Thrash Metal band. Definitely one the best bands to come out of Germany.
Here's my interview I got with their guitarist Simon Seegal.

1. Was the name of your band influenced by the British Doom metal band Witchfinder General?

Seegel: No! But we like Witchfinder General and we did a cover version on our "German THRASHING War" MLP.

2. Also do most people think your lyrics deal with the occult because the name of the band is Witchburner?

Seegel: The funny thing is some people think we are a christian band cause the christians burned the witches in the past hahaha. But for sure our lyrics are about war,hate,blasphemy,booze...

3. Could you give me a short version on how you met your band members and started the band.

Seegel: I met the first drummer and vocalist in a musicstore in my hometown in the early 90s. He told me that he is starting a Thrash-band. We went to his place for some beers and listened to the first demo. What can I say I liked the stuff and joined the crew.

4. Is there any new bands that you really Like?

Seegel: I worship alot new bands like: Witching Hour,Cruel Force...
It's good to see that many new bands that piss of the mainstream-shit and go the "real" way through the underground !

5.What is your favorite Witchburner song to play live?

Seegel: It's hard to say cause we have so many songs but i realy like to play Blasphemic Assault.

6. How was it recording the new album Bloodthirsty eyes, and how was it working with the new singer?

Seegal: This time we recorded at the studio of our new axeman Mächel, so the recording session was very relaxed. Pino was very applicated and we could work out some subtleties. He knows what he is doing and what fits to the songs, he also understands what we want from him.

7. Can we ever expect a North and South American tour? ( come to Southern California!!)

Seegal: If someone give us the chance to do a tour in South or North America we will come and set your stages alight.

8. How was the 70000 tons of metal cruise? Would you ever do it again if the opportunity arose??

Seegal: That was a great experience to do. It was something new for us. If I could play again on such a event we would , but I don't think it would be same as the first time.

9. What gear do you use?

Seegal: I used an old Hiwatt from the 70's it's very massive and you need an external distortion pedal noise gate...
I still use it at our rehearsal room, but during these past years I use a line 6 amp for live shows cause it much easier to handle.

Any Last words for the fans?

Seegal: Drink Beer make Noise and keep the Spirit alive!

Darkthrone Circle the wagons

I just recieved about 3 to 4  days ago this album KILLS!!!!!  Ok it starts of with the first song Those tresasures will never befall you the song sounds like a mix of Inepsy and Agent steel Nocturno Culto sounds just like Tom warrior from Celtic frost on this song. The second song slows the place down but is equally good the riffs have more of a metal feel then a punk edge. I am the graves of the 80's is one of my favorite songs of this album the song is a total metal punk song I also think the singing is almost like a Crust punk sounding but who cares the song destroys, this song will destroy all the fake metal cds when you listen to it. Stylized Corpse is the longest song it clocks in at 7:33 but luckily it dosen't drag on. Circle the wagons is another great song the vocals are kinda corny the melodic vikingish singing at first was laughable but listening to it again it's pretty cool and I was even singing along it's pretty darn catchy. Black Mountain Totem mixes in my opinon the style of Nocturno Culto and Fenriz which equalls another great song. The riffing is alittle different from what they usally do but it's done well. I am the working class seems to me a mix of metal and some 70's hardrock. Eyes burst at down is kinda of the last song on the album and a good closer it's a straight forward metal song  what do you expect from Darkthrone a progressive metal song Darkthrone does what they do a Speed/Punk/Black brand of heavy metal! the last song is called Bränn Inte Slottet which means Don't Burn the Castle which is repeated 30 times and then the rest of the song is pretty much an instrumental.  This album is a must have for Darkthrone fans If your new to Darkthrone I would totally recommend this albm.
