Infernal Assault Interview

                                                                Infernal Assault

Infernal Assault is Thrash Metal band from L.A. These guys are easily one of the best Thrash bands to come out of L.A.  Here's my interview with Chris the bassist of Infernal Assault!!

1. Hey Chris thanks for doing this interview. What are you currently listening to?

Chris: Yeah no problem. Right now I'm listening to Coroner!
2. Infernal Assault formed in 2007 how did you guys form?
Chris: It started when Oscar wrote couple of songs and his sister came up with the name "Infernal Assault". Then I joined in for bassist. Then we've gotten 2 of our friends Ramses as rhythm guitarist, and Austin as drums and ex lead guitarist from Arsenal from Venice Beach

3. You have had quite a bit of line up changes but you and Oscar are the original members right?

Chris: Yes, me and Oscar are the original members

4. Natural Selection is killer!! How was the recording process?

Chris: Thanks. The recording process took months because we have jobs and Oscar had 2 jobs plus school. It was a hassle but we finally got the job done.

5. Out of everything you have released do you have a favorite recording?

Chris: Its hard to say, but I really like "paradox of time"

6. Is the gas mask soldier your mascot?

Chris: yeah he is our mascot

7. You can definitely here a German Thrash influence like Sodom and Destruction. Could you tell the readers some other bands that influence you?

Chris: Coroner, Slayer, Sepultura back when they were thrash. The lists goes on.

8. What gear do you use?

Chris: I use an Ampeg BA-115 and Schecter Stilleto 4 string bass.

9. The L.A Thrash scene seems strong to me. Ironically I haven’t seen any bands or at least good ones from the Bay Area. What’s your opinion on the L.A Thrash Scene and the Thrash Metal scene in general?

Chris: The L.A. Thrash is awesome! There's alot of youngsters that are getting into thrash metal and it keeps growing and growing. And overall I believe the thrash scene is very well alive and doing well.
10. Is there a band you absolutely hate?
 Chris: Yes,and its slipknot! Hahaha

Any last words for the fans??

I'd like to say to our fans, thanks for supporting us! See you all in the pit! Cheers to all of you!

Just send them a PM and you can buy a CD from them.

Thrill Warriors interview

Thrill Warriors is a Heavy Metal band from Sweden. They put out some awesome Heavy Metal!! Here's an interview I got with their drummer Luvan Loud!

Thanks Luvan for doing this interview. Can you give us some history on how the Thrill Warriors formed?

Sure, Thrill Warriors was formed back in the spring of 2007. Mini (Moa, previous bass player) and I had been in a band together before this and early 2007 we started talking about forming a new one. Fight and Jail joined during the spring and when Sigge Strong joined on vocals later that year the first line-up was formed. Since then we've gone through a few line-up changes.
Linda has been with us on bass now for 3 years and Katrina Kaos and Maximus (stand-in guitar for Fight) joined us when we left Växjö for Gothenburg earlier this year.

2. When I listen to the Thrill Warriors it definitely sounds like a Hard Rock/Traditional Metal but I hear some Rock N’ Roll influence would you agree?

Yeah, some of our old songs are very rock n roll for sure and we do love bands like the Hellacopters, Gluecifer and Nashville Pussy, but lately we've strayed from that. With different line-ups comes different influences and this is by far the heaviest line-up of Thrill Warriors the world has seen.

3. How’s has been the recording for the new demo?

The recording of it went just fine. Well, except for when we got interrupted by flooding... Sweden can be very rainy. What's been taking time is the mixing process but we hope to be finished with that soon. One song at least is finished and will be revealed to the public quite soon in fact.

4. Where you in any other bands before the Thrill Warriors?

I sang in a few bands before Thrill Warriors but only played drums in one; a really, really bad punk band, haha, but we sure had fun! Rehearsal was more laughing than actually playing anything.

5. Why do you think some people underestimate all girl Heavy Metal bands?

I think those would be the same people who underestimate women in general. I find it absolutely pointless focusing on gender when it comes to music. Nobody ever calls Judas Priest a "boy band".
Heavy Metal and Hard rock is a lot about sex, sure, but you don't play it with your sex. We're not a "girl band", we're a heavy metal band.

6. Can we expect a full length within a few years?

Definitely! Up until quite recently we haven't felt ready for a full length but we're talking about it. It's mostly a money issue right now.

7. Last question. Why do mustaches infatuate the Thrill Warriors?

The grass is always greener on the other side... We can't grow 'em but we wish we could because well, a good mustache is badass!

Thank you very much for doing this interview. Any Last words for the fans??

Stay heavy
Stay proud
Ever faithful
Ever Loud

Midnight -- Complete & Total Hell

This CD has most of the songs recorded before Satanic Royalty minus some cover songs. I have been listening to Midnight for quite some time but purposely I didn’t listen to all their songs because I wanted to be surprised and here material I have never heard. Once I put it on the mayhem and just begun. The intro song kinda reminds me of something Venom would do and then you get with all hail hell which really reminds me of Motorhead. Servant of no one is another great song it kinda reminds me of Bathory. Unholy and Rotten is one of my favorites really great song. My favorite is Black Rock N’ Roll is my favorite it’s kinda of an anthem that’s gets you singing along.

Musically it's very inspired by Motorhead and Venom and you will hear some influences like Hellhammer at times but it seem's to be mostly inspired by raw heavy metal like tank ect..

Lyrically it’s reminds me of Venom but with more themes of death, metal and women. With songs like Endless Slut, and Vomit Queens don't take it to serious lyrically. The last song is Berlin is Burning and a great song to end with. All the songs are great and none of the songs get boring you can easily differentiate between the songs of you are a fan of Motorhead and the first wave of black metal go and buy this now!! Midnight is the greatest mix of  Motorhead Rock N' Roll and Venom Black Metal, pure evil!! IT'S BLACK ROCK N' ROLL!!

Highlights: I Am Violator, Hot Graves, Unholy and Rotten, Black Rock N' Roll, Endless Slut, Berlin is burning and lord in chains.

10/10

Festering Saliva Interview

Festering Saliva is a Death Metal band from Germany. Their new album Zeroline is one of the best Death Metal albus I have heard also it's one the best Metal albums of 2012. Here's my interview with Danny Klupp The guitarist of Festering Saliva.

Hello Danny thanks for this doing this interview. So you joined Festering Saliva in 2009 how did you join the band?

Danny: I joined the band in 2009 and I didn`t planned to join a Deathmetalband at that time. When I
firrst heard them I really thought: „What the hell is this ???? I guess I´m the wrong guy for
that band“ Finally I was wrong and became the main songwriter in the band and think
aboout this: I am the only one who`s not listening to Deathmetal at all !!!! Very funny, but it
works fine somehow :-)

Where you in any other bands before Festering Saliva?

Danny: I played on the first two HAGGARD records („and thou shalt trust the seer“ and „awaking
the centuries“), did a record with TARAXACUM (Edguy-Side projekt) and finally I ended
up as a Session guitarplayer for the big German FolkRockBand SCHANDMAUL. I did a lot
of Tours as Guitartech for many Bands like Blind Guardian or Helloween and came finally
back to become a musician again :-)

What is your Favorite Festering Saliva song to play live?

Danny: Hm, good question …. it`s ZEROLINE and A PHONIC FACIAL for all of us :-) Phonic is
a really bad ass song where everybody in the venue moves his ass !!! No shit : People really
started dancing while we played it !!!! That really shows that it doesn`t matter which kind of
music you play: It just needs to kick ass and A phonic facial definitely does !!!!!

How was the recording of this new album “Zeroline” and do you have a favorite song from the album? The album was released on Oct 19 where can we get the new album?

Danny: We all agreed to record an album which shouldn`t be tooo perfect at all and which shouldn`t
be edited much – even if there will be mistakes on it. I mean it`s an underground album
without a record company support and so it should sound like it !!!! It was the first time,
that we all entered the studio together and you could feel - during the first days - how
insecure we were behaving to each other. It happend very quick – and we are goddamn
proud of that - to find a very cool way working together during the recordings. MÄÄX did
a great job recording and mixing that thing. Any favourite songs on the album : All of
èm :-))))

What bands influence you the most?
Danny: Not really. Best songwriting situation: Some thing bad happnes to you and you need a ventil
to release your aggressions and inner hate. That`s what happend during the sonwriting
process for Zeroline and I guess you can hear that very good on „3minutes“ :-)

Will Festering Saliva ever tour North or South America?

Danny: We would love to Tour there esp Southamerica, but we need to find a Label and then a
promoter who wants us there and pays the flights . If someone wants to book us: Make sure
we get a clean shower, a bed, food,a stage and pay our travelcosts – that`s all you need :-)
We`re a LIVEBAND and we deliver what you order: A brutal live acting show where the
artist moves `till he`s out of breath and give people a moshing and headbanging Metal
show for their money !!!!! I hate bands that play a gig without any move on stage :
HELLO !!!! People payed money for you to play here – so move your fucking asses and
bang your goddamn heads !!!!!

The Internet is in a way a double edge sword to metal you can get your music to more people yet it’s killing the scene what’s your opinion?

Danny: I don`t think so !!!! Different internetplattforms allow small bands to spread their
music worldwide, get gigs worldwide and show people that they exist. Even if it`s a lot
of work to bring your band up step by step, it`s worth to do it. I spend more than 6 hours
a day on my Laptop, to work on new contacts, gigs, reviews etc. and even it it all runs
slow: It´s worth to do it !!!! I can see now how my internetklicks rise, people ask me for
interviews, promotion companies give me offers , I get tour offers etc. and that`s all
because I do something for it !!!! I hope to find a Label that signs us and send us on the
road, but if not: I can do the promotion, the online mp3 sales completely myself !!!! Just
need to find a booking agency. O.K. I need to get some money from the banking store,
but it`s not more than you need to buy a new car !!!

Where’s your favorite place to tour and where’s a place you would like to play at?

Danny:I do not have any favourite places to go on Tour – I tour everywhere !!! Maybe Indonesia is
a favourite for the band because we have a lot of fans there and I always get mails from
there !!! It would be cool to be there once for a gig and give them something back and I
definiteley have to go to Japan for a gig, because I made a promise to my friend AO
(creative man Tourmanager): „Whenever I´ll be back, then with my own band“ - I am used
to keep my promises !!!!

Ok do you have any last words for the fans?

Danny:Kick concert agencys and promoters asses to bring us in your town !!!! You`ll get a headbanging,
moshing, moving or to say it simple - goddamn real METAL Show how it should be: RIGHT IN
YOUR FACE !!!!!! Support the underground !!!! CHEERZ DANNY

Küenring interview

Küenring is a Heavy Metal band from Großschönau, Lower Austria. They play a style that mixes Old School Heavy Metal and Old School Thrash really awesome band. Once I heard them I was blown away by the muscianship there great muscians and the songs are fantastic here's my interview with their guitarist Florian Gutenthaler.

 1. Hello thanks for doing this interview how are you doing? And can you give us a history of the band?

FG:We're currently looking for a new drummer, because we had to part ways with our's a few weeks ago. But apart from that we're fine, we already began recording our second demo ep. About the history of our band: Before KÜENRING did found, we already played a few years together in different line-ups. We played a few occasional gigs under the name MADHOUSE in 2009/10, and in December 2010, again in with a different line-up, we started to play as KÜENRING. From that point on things became more serious and we did more than 10 gigs in the last one and a half years, recorded our first demo ep "Death Awaits" and sent copies to various metal-zines, from which we usually got good reviews.

2. I listened to your demo "Death Awaits" and I really like it. My favorite song is Ghost House. Can you tell us how the recording was for the demo.

FG: Well, it really wasn't easy. At the beginning of the recording, we didn't have a clue about anything, but our singer/bass player Stefan spent very much time with learning about recording techniques and mixing and I think he did a great job in the end, if you consider the poor means we had on hand to do the ep. We recorded everything in our rehearsal room. It was great fun to record the songs, especially parts like the intro of "Forbidden Passion" or the ending of "Rise of the Madman".

3. I hear Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,Exciter and Destruction influence did any of those bands influence you?
FG: In fact, all of the mentioned bands had a big impact on our sound, especially Iron Maiden and Destruction. Early Metallica and Savatage's "Hall of the Mountain King" have influenced us very much too. In our earlier days, we used to play more blues-based Hard Rock and a few years ago we discovered all those classic speed- and thrash metal bands. The then emerging songs sounded certainly different than our older ones. But, in case of music genres and styles, we aren't narrow-minded or something. The music we love goes from 50s Rock'n Roll and classic blues to early Black- and Death Metal. So I don't know what style of music we'll be playing in 5 years, maybe it'll sound completely different from our current stuff.

5. Can we expect a full release within a few years?

FG: Of course you can, I would say in about 3 years, when every member of our band finished school and we hopefully have enough money to do it.

6. What do you think of Political metal bands?

FG: I have nothing against those bands as long as they just play their music and don't act radical against other people. Everyone can think what he wants and sing about everything he wants. Apart from that we're not really interested in doing any political stuff in our lyrics.

7. How's the European Metal scene these days do you feel it's strong or is it lacking something.

FG; I think the European Metal scene is very strong at the moment, there are many young people who rediscover the old bands and there were some really hopeful new bands popping out in the last few years (In Solitude, Enforcer, Skull Fist etc.). There are also many great metal festivals and concerts you can go to. But sadly, the European Metal scene isn't everywhere as strong as in, let's say, Germany. For example, in Lower Austria, the area where we live, there are not many people who listen to the "classic" metal stuff, if you want to call it like that. Even the bands we played with were mostly pop-punks or crappy metalcore-bands.

8. What's a band you would like to tour with?

FG: Oh man, there are quite a lot. For example, I think it would be great to tour with Death Angel. I saw them live two times and they seem to have so much fun on stage while they're blowing everything away. They seem to be very nice guys too. Some people I would really like to meet in person some day would be members of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or Black Sabbath. That would be absolutely fantastic.

Ok thank you for your time any last words for the fans?

Störmblaast Interview

Looking from some quality Metal from Norway?? Look no further Stormblaast are new band that are Thrashing your brains with their awesome riffs. This interview is with Erik Odin Lie, He is the Lead Guitarist/Bassist and Vocalist.  Writing this I forgot to ask did they get there name from the Dimmu Borgir album/song Stormblast I think they did but I'm not sure since I forgot to ask well here's the interview.

Band line up.  Erik Odin Lie, Lead Guitarist/Bassist/ Vocalist
                      Simen Støle, Bassist/ Rhythm Guitar/
                      Arne-Magnus Fjelle, Drummer

  1. Can you give us a history on how the band started and such.

Erik: Well, it all started out seriously last year, in September actually! I had no one to play my music with until I met our drummer at school! He liked the same music as I, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Metal, Heavy Metal etc. and he was interested in playing drums in a Thrash or Black Metal band and that was pretty much it! So we haven't been around for a long time and we're still 14-15 years old, so we have alot ahead of us!

  1. I listened to your music and it sounds to me like Black/Thrash are you inspired by more of the Norwegian black metal scene and American Thrash or by the First Wave of Black Metal ( Bathory, Venom, Hellhammer ect) and the German Thrash Scene?

Erik: Yeah, guess it's a mix between the Norwegian Black Metal and American Thrash! You know, when I write songs, it really shows. My style of rhythm on guitar is very Hetfield-like and very thrashy. Still, when I write the riffs, the melodies becomes a bit obscure and dark, like a Immortal song just with Metallica style of riffing. So that's the main reason, it wasn't like we sat down and decided to play Thrash/Black Metal. I love the First Wave Of Black Metal though. Bathory is a big inspiration! The German Thrash scene is awesome too.

  1. I’m looking forward to hearing and hopefully getting a copy of a new cd your about to release. Can you tell me about the recording of the album and when can we expect to get a copy.

Erik: Thanks! Ah... The recordings have been...  Improvising pretty much. Started out with just some riffs and drums and vocals. Then I made up harmonies and then I got the idea of using keyboard!
So, a bit messy, but very cool! I guess we're going to record 5 new songs around Christmas, January etc. but the CD we are soon going to release  lacks some mixing and mastering and small details, but when we are done with that shit, it's coming out! Around November, maybe? :-) But remember, it's a demo and it's very, very, very limited. Only 25 COPIES, but if people like it, maybe we'll make more copies? :-)

  2. Since your in Norway I have to ask this question but have you ever been to Neseblod records or to Helvete?

Erik: I have never been to Neseblod or Helvete :/

  3. What’s your opinion of the Metal scene today compared to the 80’s or even the 90’s?

Erik: Well, hard to say.. I think the amount of metalheads have grown, absolutely, but they are less hardcore. The bands that were the mosh-pit starters in the 80's, grew in the 90's and became stadium fillers in the 00's. Like Metallica or Slayer or Anthrax or whatever. And when you have filled up big stadiums or arenas or whatever, you won't get EVERYONE to mosh and thrash around and act like maniacs like in a small venue (unless you're SLAAAYYYEEERRR). But this is very variated I think, I'm not the right person to ask. I know the crowd in Norway is reeeeaaaaaaaally boring compared to for example Chile.

Ok these are just random questions you can either answer with one sentence or one word your choice.

Mayhem or Burzum

Burzum!

Death Metal or Black Metal

Well, I'm from Norway... So, Black Metal!

Slipknot

Not a fan at all, even though our drummer is a fan.

Punk rock

Punk Rock is awesome!

Thank you for your time and for doing this interview. Do you have any last words for the fans?

Erik: Thank you for taking your time interviewing us! Hope you'll like our new songs and what comes in the future :-) Horns up and bang the head that doesn't bang! \m/

First Wave of Black Metal

First Wave of Black Metal!!

Everybody knows about bands like Mayhem and Darkthrone and all the bands that came out of Norway. But I feel the First wave is the best wave of Black Metal. You have bands like Venom that coined the term Black Metal that pretty much influenced the whole movement. The First album Welcome to Hell was more N.W.O.B.H.M/ Speed Metal where black metal was more just straight forward raw speed metal. After that in 1981 Sodom formed and started playing there brand of raw dirty metal and in 1984 released their EP In the Sign of Evil and in 1986 Obsessed by Cruelty after that album they became just a regular straight up Thrash band but still maintained in my opinion the bass sound of Venom in there later years. Then in 1982 you have formations of Destruction from Germany and Hellhammer from Switzerland

Hellhammer only released 3 demos and one EP and then they split up and became Celtic Frost. Celtic Frost was pretty much Hellhammer with better musicianship they left that style after only 2 albums and they started experimenting with different styles. Destruction on the other hand released there debut EP Sentence of Death in 1984 and their first album Infernal Overkill in 1985 they were still Black Thrash during this time but after Infernal Overkill they became just a straight up Thrash band. In Sweden in 1983 a band named Bathory appeared start making very low-fi metal with inhuman vocal style that wasn’t heard during that time. Bathory had 4 albums that were very influential to the Black Metal scene to come but then after the 4 album they started playing a new style of metal called Viking metal. By this time Most of the bands were either Thrash Bands or playing different styles of metal

In Hungary, Sweden and Norway three bands would play a crucial part in the New wave of Black Metal. These bands where Tormentor which had Attila Csihar on vocals (who would later play for Mayhem) and Morbid from Sweden who had Dead on vocals (who would also play with Mayhem) And Mayhem from Norway which this band took a lot of influence from Bathory, Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, and Sodom and early death metal bands and would create what we know now as Black metal. So in the late 80’s and early 90’s bands like Burzum, Emperor, Darkthrone (actually started out as a death metal band) and Immortal starting creating their version of Black Metal and pretty much created Black Metal as we know it today. In the 90’s the underground scene was ruled by black and death metal bands then finally in the mid 90’s bands like Desaster and Aura Noir started bringing back that First wave of Black metal style or Black/Thrash whatever you want to call it. These bands were reviving this style and now there are a lot of bands in the metal scene playing this type of metal. Nocturnal, Cruel Force, Bunker 66 and many more. Even though The First Wave Of Black Metal didn’t last really long it had a very large impact on the whole extreme metal scene.

Also by the way I know there are a lot of other bands in the first wave of black metal I’m just putting the ones I feel were the most important.

Rick Scythe interview Scythe, Usurper

1. Is your band Nightshade on hold or did you end the band.

RS: Nightshade is over. It was an experimental music project which involved many different musicians. It was something to do when Usurper ended; something still heavy but much different than Usurper. Dan Geist (bass) and Tim (drums) were both members of Nightshade for live shows. When that band ended SCYTHE was formed. We still do some Nightshade songs like "Tunguska Death Ray" and "Opus Dei of the Dead".

2. Do you have a Personal Favorite Usurper album?

RS: I like all the albums for different reasons, but the two I like the best are, "Threshold of the Usurper" and "Cryptobeast".

I like the overall sound, songs, production and feel of "Threshold of The Usurper". To me it is classic era Usurper, that IS the Usurper sound. "Cryptobeast" was a modern era Usurper classic. Every song was a blast to play live and I feel we individually and collectively reached our pinnacle as musicians and as a band as a whole.

3. How did you form your new band Scythe and was it hard to find members?

RS: At first it was supposed to be a solo album, where I got to record some Usurper songs that Usurper never got to record. I had a drummer named Ben Mulvey and a second guitarist named Joe Martinez. It didn't work out with them, so myself and Dan Geist got Tim to play drums. We recorded our debut album and then parted ways with Tim, who was replaced by drummer Joey "King Kong" Contreras.

4. Your lyrics deal with conspiracies, occult, supernatural and other topics concerning those types of ideas. How do you get inspiration to write those type of lyrics?

RS: It comes from the types of books I read. I have always been fascinated by the hidden side of reality. Most people ignore this stuff, or pass it off as whacko shit, but whether you believe it or not, it makes great topics for metal songs.

5. Ok last question, Do you think in the past 20 years the Metal scene has gotten weaker or stronger?

RS:It's gotten bigger, that's for sure. However, just because something gets more popular, does that make it stronger? I'm not sure? I don't follow the scene, or current trends. I play metal for die-hards only, I don't care about being popular.

Fueled By Fire

Fueled By Fire is a Thrash Metal band from Norwalk, California. They released there first demo in 2005 and another demo in 2006 and their first album in late 2006 and their last album in 2010. Well I actually knew about this band since 2008 and I remember hearing Thrash is Back and being really impressed with this band. The music is awesome and I really like the vocals. I really like their song Metal forever which pay tribute to bands like Megadeth, Slayer, Iron Maiden and Testament.

Striking Death is another awesome song well actually all their songs are awesome. So if your looking for some really good Thrash Metal listen to Fueled by fire.

Nuclear Assault Game Over album review

                                                          Nuclear Assault Game Over

I just got this album a few weeks ago. This is easily one of the best Thrash Metal albums in the 80's. This is in a way a precussor to Crossover but then again it's still alot Heavier than most crossover bands. Before I got the cd's I had alot of these songs on my IPOD and I have to say Nuclear Assault opened me up to Hardcore and D-Beat and all that.
The first song Live,Suffer, Die is an awesome instrumental.
Sin and Cold Steel are great thrashers. Betrayal goes to more a midpace and I like the lyrics to this song I guess I can relate to them alot.
Radiation sickness is another fast number with a really awesome riff. Hang the pope almost sounds what bands like Napalm Death would do. After The Holocaust slows the pace down but is another stand out cut. Mr.Softee theme is joke song.

Stranded in Hell is another great song even thought this line made me laugh "Stranded in Hell, Ring Satan's bell" that's so "Evil" lol.  Nuclear War is my favorite song on this disc I always thrash to this song.  My America is a punk rock song that lasts 31 seconds.  Vengence and Brain Death are both awesome songs this album is classic I would pick this album up when you get a copy. Also my cd comes with the plague ep which is great to. ."(You Figure it Out)" is freaking Hilarious.

Entrails Interview

Entrails is a Death Metal band from Sweden! They play in the vein of Entombed and Dismember and other old school swedish death metal bands. they started out in the early 90's but dissolved but was revived in 2008 and since then they have released Tales From the Morgue and The Tomb Awaits. They have recently been signed to Metal Blade records!

OK below is my interview with Jimmy the Guitarist of Entrails!

1. Can you give me a short history on how you guys formed the band?

Jimmy: The whole story is for reading at: http://www.metalblade.com/english/artists/entrails/bio.php
2. How did you get signed to Metal Blade?
Jimmy: Pure luck i must say.. Before Metal Blade contacted us we had a few smaller labels to decide between and was almost ready to sign one of them and then MB mailed us only a few days before and there were no doubt were we was going to sign. This is every bands dream to be on major label.. and we will do whatever we can to deliver killer swedish DM!
3. How do you feel about the New wave of Death Metal bands are there any bands that you like?
Jimmy: hmm.. well. the new wave can be good if the bands deliver great songs and not only fillers. some new bands are pretty descent to listen at but there are to many that just doesn´t have the spirit and feeling..
4. This is a different question but what is your opinion on Melodic Death Metal?
Jimmy: Depends in how it sounds.. you can do melodic if you play it right and dont do it TOO melodic.
5. Back in the 80's and 90's were you involved in Tape Trading? And over the years have you kept any of those tapes?
Jimmy: Nope.. i didn´t manage to ba a part of any trading.. I lived to far from the bigger cities to get the contacts and to do any trades, though i bought some demos and i think i have some of them left.. mostly from local bands.
6. Is there a certain city/country that you want to play at?
Jimmy: Well.. USA is on the toplist.. but hell.. anywhere we will have the chance to play will be fun so we hope we will have some cool requests during the year and for next year..

7. I hear alot of Dismember and Entombed in your music out of curiosity are you influenced by Carnage (Swe)?

Bestial Warlust

Bestial Warlust is a Black/Death metal band from Australia. I discovered this band a few months ago and they are a really good band they broke up in the late 90's but they have made the mark in the Australian extreme metal scene. There first album Vengence War till death reminds me of a more death metal version of Blasphemy. The songs are a sonic assault on your senses. Their next album Blood & Valour is a little more Death metal in my opinon. Also one of their guitarist went on o form Destroyer 666. So look up this band if you don't know about them.

Hail to the hordes

Deathhammer interview

Deathhammer is a Thrash Metal band from Norway. They play really raw thrash I first discovered them by looking for Norwegian Thrash bands and I first heard this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBke99hbnjw) Toxic radiation. I really like this band support the underground and buy their records.

Also this interview is with either Sadomancer or Salsten I don't kow they didn't say who it was.

1. How was the recording process for "Onward To The Pits"?

Dh:  One year of chaotic and unprofessional recordings but we reached our goal in the end.

2. Your logo was on the Darkthrone album F.O.A.D do you think that because of that you now have a bigger fanbase?

Dh: No, because posers who checked us out and liked us "only because we was on a darkthrone cover" isnt people who can listen to us in the long run. Thats whats great with violent music. Can`t recall many wimps pretending they like Vomitor for instance. You simply have to be a maniac. Also I think those with an interest in ancient evil metal have checked us out by now and we dont need a bunch of wannabe-fans anyway.

3.  Your lyrics deal with satan, death ect. Did you make a conscientious decision to do that or did it just turn out like that?

Dh: Nothing is very conscientious, we just write what comes out of us in a possessed moment and what fits the mood of the songs.

4. .Also what's your opinon on vinyl compared to cd's?

Dh: Vinyl are the superior format because it have the best sound. Cds can be practical too but I`m glad to see it dying in favour of Vinyl.

5. Do you think in the future you will ever tour North and South America?

Dh: Don`t think so because Salsten have had some trouble with the law but playing in Europe rules anyway.

Thanks for the interview i'm going to try to get my hands on Phantom knights, keep making evil metal!!

Here's a song from there split with Körgull the Exterminator

Kommandant (Jim Bresnahan) interview

1. How did you guys get the idea to be in gas masks on stage and stuff?
JB: At first, our intention was only to shoot some photos wearing them. The idea to wear them as stagewear came much later, mostly due to people inquiring about us doing so.
We decided the give it a try,and never looked back.To us,the gasmask represents more the removal of ones humanity than any sort of military statement.

2. I think that you guys are creating a more orginal sound compared to our European counterparts what do you think?
JB: I believe the stage presence in conjunction with our music is the more original element here.Neither one has the power on its own.I think this result is achieved mostly due to
the fact that we develop the imagery and stage show in tandem with the creation of the music, not as an afterthought when the album is finished.

3. Do you feel the whole satanic images of the bands from the 80's and 90's has lost it's edge and it's extreme look?
JB: Yes.I think that most people realize this but few will admit to this.I believe a handful of current bands are still very capable of working within this framework, but not very many.Satanisim does not interest me personally, but I can appreciate a good artist who just happens to be satanic.

4. In the future do you think kids will say Kommandant had an influence on them and the whole extreme metal scene.
JB: Absolutely.A band like this does not go away on its own.Kommandant is honest and real, and is always a work in progress. An artist who is not willing to risk will most surely die out.Kommandant was constructed upon risk from day 1.

5. Also how was the recording of your new album?
JB: Our new album,THE DRACONIAN ARCHETYPE, is definately our finest work to date, and is personally my finest achievement in all of my career. Many revisions of the music and the artwork as well. The major revision would definately be the re-recording of all the vocals.A difficult undertaking in and of itself, which is also proof that we will go to any length for the perfection of our art.

Witchburner interview.

Witchburner is a German Thrash Metal band. Definitely one the best bands to come out of Germany.
Here's my interview I got with their guitarist Simon Seegal.

1. Was the name of your band influenced by the British Doom metal band Witchfinder General?

Seegel: No! But we like Witchfinder General and we did a cover version on our "German THRASHING War" MLP.

2. Also do most people think your lyrics deal with the occult because the name of the band is Witchburner?

Seegel: The funny thing is some people think we are a christian band cause the christians burned the witches in the past hahaha. But for sure our lyrics are about war,hate,blasphemy,booze...

3. Could you give me a short version on how you met your band members and started the band.

Seegel: I met the first drummer and vocalist in a musicstore in my hometown in the early 90s. He told me that he is starting a Thrash-band. We went to his place for some beers and listened to the first demo. What can I say I liked the stuff and joined the crew.

4. Is there any new bands that you really Like?

Seegel: I worship alot new bands like: Witching Hour,Cruel Force...
It's good to see that many new bands that piss of the mainstream-shit and go the "real" way through the underground !

5.What is your favorite Witchburner song to play live?

Seegel: It's hard to say cause we have so many songs but i realy like to play Blasphemic Assault.

6. How was it recording the new album Bloodthirsty eyes, and how was it working with the new singer?

Seegal: This time we recorded at the studio of our new axeman Mächel, so the recording session was very relaxed. Pino was very applicated and we could work out some subtleties. He knows what he is doing and what fits to the songs, he also understands what we want from him.

7. Can we ever expect a North and South American tour? ( come to Southern California!!)

Seegal: If someone give us the chance to do a tour in South or North America we will come and set your stages alight.

8. How was the 70000 tons of metal cruise? Would you ever do it again if the opportunity arose??

Seegal: That was a great experience to do. It was something new for us. If I could play again on such a event we would , but I don't think it would be same as the first time.

9. What gear do you use?

Seegal: I used an old Hiwatt from the 70's it's very massive and you need an external distortion pedal noise gate...
I still use it at our rehearsal room, but during these past years I use a line 6 amp for live shows cause it much easier to handle.

Any Last words for the fans?

Seegal: Drink Beer make Noise and keep the Spirit alive!

Darkthrone Circle the wagons

I just recieved about 3 to 4  days ago this album KILLS!!!!!  Ok it starts of with the first song Those tresasures will never befall you the song sounds like a mix of Inepsy and Agent steel Nocturno Culto sounds just like Tom warrior from Celtic frost on this song. The second song slows the place down but is equally good the riffs have more of a metal feel then a punk edge. I am the graves of the 80's is one of my favorite songs of this album the song is a total metal punk song I also think the singing is almost like a Crust punk sounding but who cares the song destroys, this song will destroy all the fake metal cds when you listen to it. Stylized Corpse is the longest song it clocks in at 7:33 but luckily it dosen't drag on. Circle the wagons is another great song the vocals are kinda corny the melodic vikingish singing at first was laughable but listening to it again it's pretty cool and I was even singing along it's pretty darn catchy. Black Mountain Totem mixes in my opinon the style of Nocturno Culto and Fenriz which equalls another great song. The riffing is alittle different from what they usally do but it's done well. I am the working class seems to me a mix of metal and some 70's hardrock. Eyes burst at down is kinda of the last song on the album and a good closer it's a straight forward metal song  what do you expect from Darkthrone a progressive metal song Darkthrone does what they do a Speed/Punk/Black brand of heavy metal! the last song is called Bränn Inte Slottet which means Don't Burn the Castle which is repeated 30 times and then the rest of the song is pretty much an instrumental.  This album is a must have for Darkthrone fans If your new to Darkthrone I would totally recommend this albm.

Victor Whipstriker interview

Victor Whipstriker interview!!

1. So how would you define your sound some people say it’s Metal Punk other says it’s Heavy Metal or is your style just like what it says on your album Crude Rock N’ Roll?

Victor: I think is better don´t talk about styles. I like many different stuffs, then I try to put all influeces on Whipstriker´sound. I like from 70´S Rock n´Roll to Death Metal, including Punk, Crust, Thrash, NWOBHM etc. The first album is completely Rock n Roll, the demos are crust. The new stuff sounds like Motorhead meets Bathory. Metalpunk is the better word to define this mixing I think. But if you want you can call us Loud guys. That´s all.

2. Does Brazil have a pretty big Metal scene?

Victor: Brazil is a very big country. So we have a lot of good metal scenes here. In the other hand, there are a lot of empty areas too. But yeah, if you have a band you can play many gigs in Brazil, all the states have a good scene. São Paulo, for exemple, is very big state. There are more than 15 cities there where you can play very good gigs. My city Rio de Janeiro has many good shows and bands too. Some ass-holes can say that we don´t have a good scene. But this people do nothing to get better. They stay their homes complaining about the scene. Fuck them, they´re stuppid people.

3. I hear an Venom/Motorhead influence, have those band's influenced you?

Victor: From 70´s Rock n Roll I can say Thin Lizzy, UFO, Captain Beyond, Grand Funk Railroad, Free, Wishbone Ash etc. From Thrash, Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, Sacrifice, Slayer, Possessed, Violent Force, Nuclear Assault etc. From Death/Black Metal, Morbid Angel, Autopsy, Death, Mantas, Hellhammer, Benediction, Devastation,Bathory, etc. From NWOBHM, Venom, Motorhead, Warfare, Diamond Head, Iron Maiden, Tygers of Pan Tang, Holocaust, Tank, etc. From Crust/Punk I like Anti-Cimex, Discharge, Crude SS, Black Uniforms, GBH, Varukers, etc.

4. Are you in other bands or is Whipstriker your only band?

Victor: I play in the other band Called Farscape since 1998. It´s a Thrash Metal band in vein of Kreator. I play in Atomic Roar too, it´s a metalpuk band in vein of Warfare. I played in Diabolic Force, but the band is over now, it´s a oldschool black metal band in vein of Celtc Frost, Hellhammer, Bathory etc.
5. So on the Toxic Holocaust DVD Brazilian Slaughter 2006 your playing bass did you play bass for just that one show or the whole tour? Also how did you meet Joel was he already a fan of Whipstriker and called you up or did you just meet him somewhere and then you played bass for the tour?

Victor: I have contact with Joel since 2001 when he sent me his first demo. He already knew my other band Farscape, so he sent me some stuffs. So when he came to Brazil he invited me to play bass on tour. I played 3 gigs with Toxic Holocaust. Was very good, I had a good experience that time. Very thanx the support bro! Keep on touch. If someone wants to hear the Whipstriker´song, enter in: www.reverbnation.com/whipstriker
Thanks for the interview Keep making awesome metal \m/

Megadeth Thirteen

Ok Megadeth Thirteen is a great album!!!! But Endgame is better. When I heard the first track Sudden Deth I was actually disaponted because the single version is heavier and I just like it better. Public Enemy No. 1  to me is one of those catchy metal songs not really thrash metal. Whose Life (Is It Anyways?) seemed more punk influenced and is another standout cut. We the People is another political song, it's a good song but I didn't really stand out to me one the first couple of listens but has grown on me. Guns, Drugs & Money is a song about the Mexican drug cartels and this song musically is actually simple for Megadeth but it is done very good and this is another great song on this album. Never Dead starts off slow but then kicks into a Thrash Metal song which immediately made me headbang. New World order was only a demo and relased as a bonus track on youthanasia this versions is superior to the demo. Fast lane is a medium track that didn't really standout to me the first few listens but it's another good song.  The whole album is very good probably not the Best Megadeth album but I hope they stick to this formula and mix some elements of Endgame or there Early Thrash Metal classics. If you are a Megadeth fan you need to get this album!!!

War Ripper

War Ripper is a side project of the mastermind of Toxic Holocaust Joel Grind. War ripper is a Black/Crust /Thrash band from the U.S. I first heard the song Violent Death and I was blown away it sounded like a mix of Hellhammer and Discharge so this band is almost in a way a tribute to them. The song Bombs dropping to hell is another stand out song it's a real crust punk song very simple riff with guttral vocals. The lyrics are not like Punk which are more in a Pacifist ant-war The lyrics just tell you about how everyone dies. So if you have never heard of this band listen to them now!!!!! The only bad thing is that they haven't made an album and only an ep that was on vinyl the how many that were printer is unknown.

Infernalis interview

Me:So when did you form Infernalis?

Heston: We formed Infernalis in early 2012, although we originally had the idea going in summer of 2011.

Me: What bands influence you the most.

Heston:  Pantera, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer.

Me: Has there ever been an album that blew you away when you first heard it.

Heston: Oh yeah, it was Power Metal by Pantera. That album was killer, and it's a shame it didnt get the spotlight due to private distribution and what not. That album is easily up there with everything else thrash during the '88 time period.

Me:So lyrically what does your band focus on?

Heston:  Well, with our new single being set to be released late this spring called "One World Government", It hints it all. Im writing alot of lyrics about society and the government as it is today. Stuff that actually means something.

Me: How would you define your musicall style and do you ever think you will be able to tour?

Heston: As far as style, if it means genre, were probably Heavy/Thrash mix. But we're aiming for the late 80's early 90's sound. Were not some posers like you see on shirts in Hot Topic or anything like that. We're straight, to the core traditional Heavy Metal that everyone has learned to love. As far as touring goes, thats a little further on in the future to say anything for sure. But anything is possible. It all depends on the success on our single and upcoming EP and things like that. We've gotta build a fanbase at least locally before we can do anything big.

Heston is the guitarist and singer of the band

Same questions another band member zeeshan

1. Late 2011 to Early 2012
2. For the band it would be artists like the big four, Overkill, Pantera. For me it would be bands like Elvenking, Dragonforce, Iron Maiden, Alestorm, Helloween, Marilyn Manson, Dio, Avantasia, Edguy, Freedom Call, Journey, Ozzy
3.No. I have had songs though, Through the Fire and the Flames, which introduced me to a entirely new genre of metal
4. So far it has been on society, government, and politics,
5.Thrash/Heavy Metal. Most likely i will tour in the future with the band, but would most like spend my time in a power metal band someday

Ethan
1. November 2011
2. Van Halen, Rhapsody of Fire, Pantera
3. Van Halen- Best of both worlds
4. Effect
5.  I would define it as......something different than what you're used to hearing from the radio. And if we get big enough, sure we'll go on tour

Slaughter Command interview

This is a Thrash band from Germany they have just released there new album Ride the Tornado.
Here's my interview with a member from this band.

.Me:  Your album Ride the Tornado of what I heard is really good have you guys been recieving good responses about this album?

Slaughter Command: Till now we got only a few but great responses about our shite: We were invited to play at a festival with DEATH STRIKE, DESASTER, PROTECTOR, etc. and will release a split-ep with the german Black Metal Tyrants UNGOD.

Me: What do you think about the Thrash Metal resurgence that has happened these past couple of years?

Slaughter Command: There are always some Pros and Cons about it. It's great, that this kind of music gets more attention than before as we do this music because we live for that special feeling of extreme Metal.
Collecting Shirts, CDs, Vinyls, going to festivals/concerts, partying hard etc. etc.
All in all it's a pleasure to listen to the great bands (Nekromantheon, Antichirst, Entrench, etc.) coming up. On the other hand there is a shitload of bands who aren't even worth listening once.

Me: .What bands influenced you to pick up your instrument and start a band?

Slaughter Command: Very different from early Metallica, Megadeth over Slayer to Sodom, Sarcofago, Mutilator, Mayhem and so on.

Me:  If you could do an international tour with any band what band would it be?

Slaughter Command: Puh... Bestial Mockery, Deathwitch, Abominator, Kill & Darkthrone (hehe)

Me: Ok here's a random one ,if you can take 5 cd's or lp's to an island that somehow had electricty what albums would you take?

Slaughter Command: 5 CD´s or Lps aren´t that much, but here you get an impression of what SLAUGHTER COMMAND would take:

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Possessed - Seven Churches
Desaster - Tyrants of the Netherworld
Sepultura - Schizophrenia
Motörhead - Another perfect day
Monster Magnet - Spine of God
Darkthrone - A blaze in the Northern Sky
Merciful Fate - Melissa
Onslaught - Power from Hell
Autopsy - Severed Survival
At War - Ordered to Kill
too many to mention...

Me:
Thank you the interview. Thrash till death.

Carnage Dark Recollections

THIS IS A DEATH METAL BEAST OF AN ALBUM!!!!!!

Awesome album blew me away this is pure old school death metal there isn't any Melodic tendencies anywhere in the album. So it start's out with the song Dark recollections which tears you ears open. Then you brutally attacked with the song Torn Apart that is my favorite song on the album the bass sounds so cool the guitars are really brutal sounding also. Blasphemies of the flesh is another good song. Infestion of evil has a really cool riff that starts of the song. Gentle Exhuming  reminds me of early Carcass maybe because of the blast beats but it's another standout cut. The rest of the album is awesome it's very much in the spirit of Early Entombed and Dismember. If you are a Death Metal fan this is a must have. the reissued edition has their demos as bonus tracks.

1. Dark Recollections 03:45
2. Torn Apart 04:40
3. Blasphemies of the Flesh 03:46
4. Infestation of Evil 04:57
5. Gentle Exhuming 02:55
6. Deranged from Blood 05:07
7. Malignant Epitaph 03:18
8. Self-Dissection 03:30
9. Death Evocation 04:35
10. Outro 01:40

Motorhead No sleep till hammersmith CD review

I got this album a few months ago and ive listened to it atleast 10-12 times and I don't know how many times ive listened to the songs of this album on my ipod. Ok this a beast of an Live album every song is awesome. Ace of Spades is really raw and is faster to me than the studio version. Metropolis sounds better live than on the Studio record it is one of the best song on this album. Iron Horse is another song that sounds better live. I can't really understand but a roadcrew member comes and says some stuff and he sounds funny before we are the roadcrew. This is a fantastic Live album probably one of the Best Motorhead live records if your a fan of any Hard Rock or Heavy Metal you should get this record.
